AUDITABILITY AND ACCESS CONTROL ENFORCEMENT IN TELEMEDICINE PLATFORMS USING BLOCKCHAIN-BASED CONSENT MANAGEMENT

The rapid expansion of telemedicine platforms has transformed healthcare delivery by enabling remote diagnosis, consultation, and monitoring. However, this digital shift has intensified concerns related to patient data privacy, access control, and auditability of medical records. Conventional centralized consent management systems often suffer from limited transparency, single points of failure, and weak enforcement of patient-centric data governance. This short research paper investigates the role of blockchain-based consent management in enhancing auditability and enforcing fine-grained access control within telemedicine ecosystems. By leveraging immutable ledgers, smart contracts, and decentralized trust models, blockchain enables verifiable access logs and dynamic consent enforcement. The paper synthesizes prior research, proposes a conceptual architecture, and illustrates analytical artifacts such as flowcharts, graphs, and tables to demonstrate effectiveness. The findings suggest that blockchain-based approaches significantly strengthen accountability, security, and patient autonomy in telemedicine platforms.
